Artist Statement

Paige Robinson works predominantly with relief printmaking. The work focuses on the conceptualisation of the rural environment, humanities interaction with the natural world and the sense of wellbeing in relation to the landscape. Depicted by landscapes devoid of human presence that she has personally experienced, that have evoked a sense of the sublime whilst maintaining an undertone of homely comfort. She has dedicated her practice to exploring the tentative relationship between man and landscape, using her own life as a foundation.

The style of the work involves a wide variety of mark-making and textures, ranging from single colour block prints to multilayer colour reductions. The style of printmaking is a mixture of loose forms to express the organic influence and structured carving to maintain a fluid composition. The aim of the work is to inspire the notion of slowing down, to be present in the moment and appreciate the natural world we share.

ABOUT

Biography

My name is Paige Robinson, I was born in Hampshire, England in 1997. I am currently working as printmaker, having recently graduated with a first class honours bachelors degree from Solent University in 2024, where I am the current artist in residence. I am a relief printmaker and artist, more recently I have been focusing on more complex reduction relief printmaking. I find the process of carving a block to be very cathartic, it allows me to focus on the memory and feeling that I want to solidify in my mind. I have a love for all things landscape and enjoy nothing more than getting out into nature with my dog.

My work allows me to travel and explore new places, which is important to not just my practice but my personal life too. A highlight of my journey as an artist so far has been being selected to be a part of the Ripe Papayas, an artist collective for recent graduates.
